The LEADE Foundation, in conjunction with the Fredericksburg Alphas, are proud to announce the recipients of the 2023 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarships. Each recipient was asked to complete a rigorous application and submit a 2-3 page topical essay based on their selected Scholarship. Below are our 2023 Recipients
Mr. Joel Boakye attends Courtland High School and is the recipient of one of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarships, awarded based on demonstration of Community Service, Good Character, and Critical Thinking.
Mr. Abdul-Salam Gidado attends Colonial Forge High School and is the recipient of the Walter P. Richardson Scholarship, awarded based on Academic and Leadership Performance.
Mr. Marcel Jones attends Spotsylvania High School and is the recipient of one of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship, awarded based on demonstration of Community Service, Good Character, and Critical Thinking.
Ms. Victoria Owusu attends Chancellor High School and is the recipient of the Dr. Geraldine T. Farmer Scholarship, awarded based on Academic and Enrollment/Majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM).
Mr. Joshua Ridley attends Chancellor High School and is the recipient of the HBCU Scholarship, awarded based on Academic and Academic Attendance/Enrollment to a HBCU.
Mr. Joshua Ridley attends James Monroe High School and is the recipient of the Emory T. Turner Scholarship, awarded based on Academic and Athletic performance.
